The babies are one week old today and continue to progress and astound us with their strength! Elliot is on his last step before breathing on his own, with just a little extra nasal oxygen support. He is doing so well!! He is SO much more comfortable without the ventilator! We finally got to do some 'kangaroo' cuddling today and he did so well. He slept so peacefully and it was amazing to finally be able to hold him close and snuggle him!
Both babies also had an ultrasound of their heads today, routine for premature babies to check for any bleeding or abnormalities in the brain. We are SO THANKFUL that their scans were both normal!

Ava continues to do well. She was a little jaundiced again today so she has to go back under the UV lights for a bit longer, but this is very normal for her age and only a very minor issue. Hopefully both babies will soon step down to the lower level NICU where they can just focus on gaining weight and learning to eat on their own. The respiratory issues are nearly behind us which is wonderful!
