The babies have now graduated to the lower level NICU 2 since they no longer require any respiratory support. They were moved last night and are doing well. Both babies have something called a PDA (patent ductus arteriosus), which is a blood vessel that is necessary before birth but is supposed to close after birth. It is still open in both babies which can cause problems with allowing enough oxygenated blood to get to their organs, among other issues. They have been started on a medication that will hopefully make this vessel close without the need for surgery. This is another common problem with preemies so we are hopeful the medication works! We should know after several days.

Other than the PDAs, the babies have been doing great. It's so wonderful to be able to hold them all the time now and cuddle them without all the tubes on their faces. It's great to finally see their beautiful faces and how much they are already changing. We are getting lots of cuddle time in which the babies just love. They sleep so soundly and peacefully, it's always so sad to have to put them back in their isolettes!

Now onto the adorable pictures....
