28 weeks

We've made it through the first milestone and reached 28 weeks on 4/20. At this point, the risks of longterm problems for the babies if they are born any time soon is significantly reduced so we are very relieved! In more good news, after 25 days of laying in bed 24/7, Jamie was finally given the green light to start getting out of bed, though only for very brief activities....like finally taking a shower!! There has been no progression of her initial signs of preterm labor and she has been stable for a month now which seems to be very surprising (and equally relieving) to the doctors! Considering their mother has never been early to anything in her life, it seems logical that these babies are in no hurry to make their appearance!!

We had another ultrasound today to check the babies' growth and development and they look perfect. They have grown SIGNIFICANTLY just in the past two weeks. The girl is measuring about 2 lb 7 oz (a 1 lb weight gain in 2 weeks!) and the boy is 2 lb 13 oz, (3/4 lb gain). That's collectively close to the size of a single full term baby! No wonder Jamie is getting so uncomfortable lately!

If all continues to go well, the doctors are considering letting Jamie go home in the next couple of weeks. It sounds too good to be true so we'll believe it when we see it :) Here are a few recent pictures...

The message board in my room...Chris got a bit artistic!
28 weeks and finally standing up!!
