So things have changed dramatically as of this past week. At a routine checkup on Wednesday 3/25, our fantastic and very thorough doctor discovered a serious complication that would have resulted in Jamie going into labor that day (at 24 weeks) had it not been discovered in the knick of time. Jamie was sent to a high risk specialist and then transported via ambulance to Shands Hospital labor and delivery where she was prepped for possible emergency c-section.
It was a terrifying experience, however due to the quick action of our OB and the fantastic care from the specialists and nurses at Shands, Jamie is still pregnant one week later, and has not had any signs of labor yet. The down side is she will now be spending the remainder of the pregnancy at Shands on very strict bedrest. Her condition is very fragile and the babies could come at any time, so every day is a milestone. We reached 25 weeks on Monday 3/30! Luckily the babies remain very healthy and are even developing ahead of schedule so we are very grateful for that!
Please keep us in your prayers that these babies will hold out as long as they can. Our short term goal is to get to 28 weeks, but any longer than that will be fantastic! Jamie will try to keep the blog posted as she doesn't have much else to do at this point! :)
